At Rooted Church we value membership and see it as a primary way for one to serve and grow as a believer. Rooted is not a business peddling spiritual services...we are a family, committed to one another, growing together at the table.
As we commit to the local church, we commit to a group of people and growing in the Gospel together. This Gospel community is where we experience spiritual growth, accountability, encouragement, and the true relationships we all long for and desperately need. Thank you for seeing the value in church membership and for pursuing it with Rooted Church.
Here are the steps to move forward...
-Read Member Affirmation of Faith. Also, reading the Elder Affirmation of Faith is recommended (Link). This gives you an opportunity to understand what we consider “essentials” for members. We also highly recommend that you read the Elder Affirmation in order to understand the stances we take as a Pastoral team.
-Review Rooted Church Membership Covenant (Link). This covenant lays out the expectations of membership. All of us work together to help one another grow into, and fight for the biblical expectations laid out in this document.
-Complete the Membership Application (Link). This isn’t a typical “application” but it is a way for you to acknowledge you’re formally ready to take the next step. Additionally, it provides a space where you can give our leadership team a heads up on things that need discussed.
-Schedule Membership Interview (Email Rodney for Joplin). Again, this is not a typical “interview.” It is really just a time for you and a Pastor to have one final conversation before bringing you forward as a member. This is a great opportunity to discuss any questions that have arisen and to discuss ways in which you desire to become involved as a member.
-Take part in a Member Celebration Gathering. 2-3 times per year we have a Member Celebration Gathering. This a Sunday Gathering where we bring our new members before the body and pray over them. During this gathering, we also ask our current members to acknowledge their commitment to these new members as they become part of our Gospel Family. This is very special gathering for Rooted Church and we typically celebrate with a short reception after the service.
